It's easy to screw up when you are a beginner. Many of us had more than one EC and had to start over (I did not, by the way) And putting in effort? This is not a job, it's a game. It shouldn't be about who has the most ability to put in time doing repetitive tasks on a computer.
The cold reality is if your willing to put the effort in then you will get far. If you don't? Then have fun staying at the bottom.
The cheapest meadow is 2700 which I think is pretty easy to get. Get one of those and then slowly expand once you get more equus. And I hardly call playing the game a job. As far as I know Howrse is about breeding and training horses. Just remember that the ranking really does not effect how you play your game. I personally chose to play at a semi active level out of pure choice. If you want to play quietly then go right ahead. But bending the truth really isn't going to help.
