Raising skills of Tarpan

I got a Tarpan a few days ago as a reward. Its skills are at 0 but its training and rides are completed. I’ve entered it in comps with hopes that would help raise its skills but didn’t seem to work. Any idea how I can raise its skills or is it not possible?

He only gains skills when he wakes up each day. It's not possible to manually increase his skills

It's not possible to raise his skills, apart from the small amount of skills gained everyday when he wakes up. I'd say it's still worth entering him in comps (and lessons) for the financial gain though - he'll still bring in equus, and over time mine has started to place higher than 5th place.
