Hello,

I am still struggling to understand unicorn guaranteed birth rate.

My mare had given birth to 4 sets of failed twins, and 1 failed foal, so I gave it a fertility wand and tears for its 6th birth/covering and I still failed to get uni twins? I thought I would be guaranteed for this last covering?

This mare was previously a male and had public coverings available, so there are two non births mixed in to the offspring page.

Hello! Only foals born to this mare after a gender change are counted. Your mare has only foaled one time after a gender change. You can check this by looking at what she is listed as in the foals' Origins in Genetic section (Sire / Dam).

  • It's because of the stallion coverings, yes. She needs to give birth 5 times in order to be eligible, stallion covers don't count, and if she's bolted to a stallion and then bolted back it will reset the count of 5 even if she had previous covers as a mare before being bolted.

The all the coverings were from before bolt, and all foals as a mare were immediately after another from my side. Does that still not count?

If all her foals that she gave birth to were after she was bolted it looks like the last set of twins would have been the 5th birth not the sixth. One set of twins she seems to be the father not mother. So if I am not mistaken your next set is your 6th and should be unis

  • The horse x (~of Forbidden Shadows), her foal directly prior to the failed twins, has her listed as a sire. That means she was bolted and then covered a total of once since that bolt.

She may have been bolted to a sire and back again to a mare before that foal, it doesn't matter how many times you do it. Bolting to/from a sire always resets the count back to zero. So any foals she had as a mare prior to the foal x aren't relevant.

  • Wait, I think I understand what you're saying now. She was bolted and the foals listing her as a sire are from public covers after her bolt?

Admittedly I'm not 100% sure if births as a sire accepted from public coverings resets it. I... don't think it should? My tentative guess is that it would be from the time of the covering being *accepted*, not the birth, since... if it's the birth you could theoretically end up with your horse getting reset randomly at any time, depending on when the user who took the covering decides to birth their mare.

You might have to go to Contact Us for all the details, because this is kind of an unusual situation. I do think it's because of the sire covers, but without knowing if the sire covers are resetting from the point of covering or birth I can't say when she'll have her guaranteed foal, unless someone else knows.

  • To clarify better what I mean; say she was bolted, and you covered her, and then those 2 covers were accepted while she was pregnant. Because she's still functionally a "stallion" on the game in terms of the public covers, when another player accepted those covers, she got reset.

Which would mean the first pregnancy and *only* the first wouldn't count, since any public covers would expire in two days. I guess if you covered her twice using AP, as many as two could not count but you can do the math on that if that's what you did. default smiley (lol)

That's what I think happened. If she hasn't been bolted or offered public covers since and wasn't aged/impregnated during the time the public covers were available and could be purchased to reset her, she'll probably have a unicorn on the next birth.

  • Crookedstar915, you’re right there are two foals listed under her offspring that are actually from her previous public covering offers. this mare still technically has public coverings available.

Unfortunately , despite my mare giving birth 6 times in a row with no unicorn, I was not guaranteed a unicorn on my 6th covering… :/

  • I think the public covers are messing it up. Because she still has public covers available, she's still in-game a "stallion" and therefore she's having covers with her as a sire, which is reseting the pregnancy count.

I would wait for the public coverings to expire (they do in 2-3 days) and then try again.
