Hello everyone,

I’m a returning player who hasn’t played in about three years, and I noticed there’s a new feature for unicorn breeding that says:

“After the same unicorn mare foals 5 times without giving birth to a unicorn foal, the 6ᵗʰ is guaranteed to be a unicorn foal.”

However, it doesn’t seem to be working for me. I have a unicorn mare that has already had 8 non-unicorn foals, and when I started playing again, I expected the next one to be a unicorn — but it wasn’t. I even bred another foal after that, and it also wasn’t a unicorn.

Could someone explain why these foals aren’t unicorns?
Is it possible that the rule only applies to foals born after the feature was introduced?

Thanks in advance for any clarification!

yes, the 'rule' only applies to foals born after the feature was introduced. If I remember right it was January last year.

Also doesnt apply if the unicorn was bolted and twins (or more if it is an Isis covering) count as one birth.

  • I see — thank you so much for the information!

I think this is a wonderful addition to the game, especially for unicorn breeders. It adds a lot more detail and strategy to the breeding process. Thank you again!

I had a unicorn that would not give any unicorn foals. turns out she had to have 5 new foals after the feature was implemented.

Yes. It is decided during the covering, whether it will be a unicorn foal or not. So the coverings have to have happened after the change as well.

January 2024. That's how I remember it as well.
