[UPDATED] Devs' Corner: April 2025

seconding what was said above - i have played howrse since 2007. i've seen so many updates, interface changes, and overall changes in the game. this is the first thing that has actually made me want to quit. what is the reason for changing something that was working just fine? especially when the update is far less concise and hard to navigate.

Why couldn’t they have done something actually helpful like moving it the “breeds” star, legendary and diving from the breed selection to the species selection so I dont have to constantly scroll down to the bottom of ALL the breeds on howrse? They already of wild under species so why not those? Instead they “fix” something that wasn’t even broken. Like I said, rewards are nice but not worth it for me

They are not very good pics because i'm not tech savvy, but i did post a few screenshots i took of my recent trophy page and profile display in my forum so that i could look back on them.

What do you mean by Pass horses? *curious because I've not heard of this*

Until a few years ago, we didn't have Yggdrasil or Daily Pass Objectives.

To get monthly passes we sent old horses (at least 30 years, not 25) to Heaven when they died. You'd get 100 passes per horse, for up to 10 horses. After your 10th horse you had the chance of earning a BM or bonus item or 100 passes, with 3000 passes being the max.

We called these "pass horses".

So you can still buy them? *I'm confused*

I had heard about people trading horses for passes but I thought they didn't do that anymore.

Oh, no, sorry, I should have clarified that.

Horses sent to Heaven no longer offer passes, but some may still call the old horses used for Yggdrasil "pass horses" since he sort of replaced the reason for aging up mortal horses (even if he's no where near as profitable as the old system)

I can only reiterate the same frustrations that many, many other players have already expressed.

1) The new design is visually boring, as they’re just all the same medal style. We loved having the unique and interesting trophies you could understand at a glance.

2) The page is clunky and hard to navigate. I really wish we could see numbers instead of just percentages, and it's hard to understand which trophies we have. I'd love to be able to hover over to get more details about my progress.

3) A huge draw of the trophies was showing them off on your page, and as others have pointed out, it was a really cool insight into other players’ game style. You could see if someone was into collecting coats or companions, or bred a certain breed and had all the coats, or was focused on winning comps and rosettes. The new display is so bland and boring.

4) I am not even that serious of a trophy collector, but I feel so bad for those who are, and who lost so many trophies that they spent so much time and money curating. So many categories were wiped out, like the companions, the rays, all the different breeds, the GA coats, etc.

5) Do Iris coats even count for anything now? Am I missing it in the Collections? I was having fun trying to breed all the colors myself to get the trophy, but now even if it was a trophy it wouldn’t matter because I didn’t put a special coat item on?

6) Why can’t we see what the prize we’ve earned is, or what the next one is so we can work towards it? I don’t want Tarpan, so I’m just avoiding opening any of them. So the whole “reward” of the trophies is pointless for me.

The only good element:
1) I do like the idea of having an incentive of rewards for reaching new achievements, but as many have suggested this could’ve been added as a new bonus section in addition to the old trophies. I hope that the devs listen to the immense amount of feedback: reinstating the old trophies and then adding the new medals with rewards would be much better.

Howrse please listen to your customers on this topic.. This is not enjoyable at all and an un-needed change I miss all of my trophies
