[UPDATED] Devs' Corner: April 2025

Just tested the "search saved when scrolling through breeding farms" Wonderful update and so useful when a large barn is being farmed but not all horses are boarded. Skips right over the unboarded ones.

Love that there's more criteria when searching for boxes to board. So often before I'd mass board and 1 out of the bunch would be put in a lower prestige box or without shower/trough so when auto training while farming, that one horse would end up almost dead due to not waking with the same energy as the rest.

As mentioned by Cranedaughter, it would be nice if Hrafn's that have not given birth since being acquired via xmas packs have their lineage corrected instead of showing disappeared horse.

Can somebody help me understand the search bar for the breeding farms? I'm so confused with what they said in the devs corner LOL

I love the new changes to the mobile. I remember it was so annoying to go to the classic version just to make a affix. Y'all rock!

I think..

If you were to search for just pregnant mares (for example) in a mass breeding farm - in the past clicking on the first horse in the results would be fine, but if you used the next arrow it would then take you to the next horse in the BF even if it wasn't a pregnant mare.

I think this update means the next arrow will take you to the next horse acording to the search results not just the random next horse.

Pregnant was just the first thing I thought of, it should work with whatever search criteria you set.

I think these updates are all positive and once they fix the display glitch on mobile it will have been a success.

I am grateful for the acknowledgement of the in game issues and I do hope that the cause is discovered very soon.

As far as I rememver it did start very soon after we had a server move a year or two ago, but something I wonder about is the separate loading mane/tail/body change that happened.. well, I can't remember quite when it happened, when the Iris coat came along? Button plaiting?

The reason I say this is because whenever I am suffering from the lag, and it's nowhere near as often or as bad as others report, the loading of horse images seems to be particularly bad. First a tail, then the mane and so on.

So I wondered if all those separate elements coming together, over hundreds or maybe a thousand+ players at a time, is compounding this lag effect. Especially players speed blupping and/or autocomping etc. I rarely BLUP these days but I do pretty much autocomp all my horses now to try and avoid page load lag. On a good game day I can speed from horse to next horse at a fair clip and I'm probably slow compared to serious breeders.

I mean what benefit or enhancement did it bring to the game (the separate mane/tail etc)? Wasn't there talk of different mane and tail designs coming along that we could mix and match or did I dream that?

They've been saying they are fixing the lag for a year now so don't be too surprised to learn I am still not impressed with their progress. At this point, new features need to be pushed to the side and focus 100% on fixing the lag, most days it is unplayable any time I try to get on.

Ah yes, I should have been clearer sorry. I meant I was grateful it was acknowledged in a dev/tech update.

I know players have received replies after submitting tickets to contact us, and I think there has been responses from mods here and there. But I think this is the first time it's been clearly stated in a game announcement type way.

OK. I just got the trophies for having all of both male and female pastry horses. Which is a bit strange as I haven't got all of either sex. Anyone else?

They're updating all sorts of things related to the breeding farm searches and the ONE change I really wanted didn't happen. I really would love the ability to sort different farms in different orders- e.g. maybe I need to fill for a teammate so I sort my fillers by skills, and while I'm doing that I can also farm my divines sorted by age, and then go cover my unis sorted by breed (without having to change the sort option each time).

It's nice to see that they've actually made an announcement about the lag.

I'm also terribly confused by the "The searches made using the search form in the breeding farms will now be saved when navigating between breeding farms" "change". From what I can tell, nothing has actually changed. The "basic" search (worked, not worked, classical, western, etc. filter) still doesn't save itself when you move to another breeding farm. And the advanced search has ALWAYS functioned such that a search specified in one breeding farm will still be active if I navigate to a different breeding farm.

8/10 Overall a decent update, although not one that I personally find any use in. Now if they could just change the black market pages back to how they used to be, and find the source of the lag....

I like the new search feature. I usually put in my search parameters and then open each horse in a separate tab to work them so I don't lose my search. This is great that I can now use the arrow scroll to go to the next horse instead. Works really nice when I'm breeding my unicorns. Thank you Howrse.
