[UPDATED] Devs' Corner: April 2025

Like what others have said, I’m not thrilled about the change to coats. I quite enjoy being able to only put certain coats on certain species and this seems like it’s going to be harder to find certain coats in sales. If I’m looking for a donkey specific coat, I don’t want to look through horses and ponies to find it.

i think the issue is they don't want people getting the new donkeys because of these divines on thurs before the promo where they are being released. the promo doesn't start at the update. so if you get your random foal from these divines before the promo started on thurs with the old way you could get the new donkey. they don't want that. if you want the new donkey from these divines and can do it thurs just wait til after the promo starts.

here's my question with the new donkey. can you breed them to the old donkeys? i know you can't breed them to horses, ponies and drafts but can they breed to the old ones like the different draft breeds can be bred together

Yes, donkeys can now be crossbred

As someone who just started working on the Donkey Breeder trophy I'm glad there's finally new donkeys. The poor things are just so boring otherwise. Cute, but boring.

Question about the Sisyphus Stone... Can you still earn x2 equus after 25?

The skills stop of course but I see no reason to take away that double equus.

Hiram Farmer - as they just changed them to prevent us getting new breeds early, that wouldn't be an issue if Hipparion's perk was changed to a random breed when we currently have everything on the game, instead of missing out when we do.

This change made my heart sink...i absolutely do NOT want them all mixed together. It'll be awful if they do! Coat release will be an absolute nightmare if this happens. I do not want to wade through everything then or any other time, especially as someone who loves to match up correct breeds and coats, etc. Please please PLEASE do not mix them all together!

Agree with what was said about Hipparion - I don't even have a desire to own him because of the perk shut-off, even though I love Ran. But with new breeds only getting released a few times a year Hipparion quickly becomes useless unless you're still in the process of the coat collection trophy, he really should work the way Ran does.

I love the new donkey, it's cute and I'm glad after so long that donkeys are getting some new breeds.

I don't know how the Draft VA thing works because I haven't tested it but it sounds like you can give one of the VA coats to a Draft now, not that they added new coats to the VA? If they added new VA Draft coats I have mixed feelings since that's not really what the item was for, but if it's just that you can put VAs on Drafts now, that's fine.

I do want the GA to remain species-specific as others do (as far as I understand it still is), but the VA I don't mind if it's less exclusive. There were only 3 species on it anyway, one of which only had 3 coats and all the rest could be crossed to dozens of the "wrong" breed and some coat combos which don't even exist on the game so I don't think the change is that dire.

Finally the customization of donkeys, very good! That was long overdue. It's so difficult to BLUP them that giving them a boost in the form of the more perk-ified custom coats will hopefully be a benefit!

Correct, there are no new coats, just the ability to put VA on a draft, and all species can wear all the special coats (excluding Golden Apples, as those are still species specific)

Really sad to hear golden apples aren't included in the change. I was really excited to not have to deal with the set species anymore. Oh, well.
