[UPDATED] Devs' Corner: May 2026

Literally who wanted this avatar change. Please, who? I just want to know because now over 60% of my avatars can't even be used (simply because they'd look extremely weird and botched with this new format)
Why y'all felt the need to force this change is beyond me but I simply do not vibe with it.

I know I'm in the minority here but I seriously love the circle avatars...they've been square for years and years so it's really nice to have a little change and I think circles are very aesthetically pleasing. Most profile pictures on most other websites are circle anyway.

They should at the very least let players choose between a circle or a square for those of us who now have unusable custom avatars that fit the square format.

The issue is that they asked nobody if they would want it nor did they even give an option. A lot of players, such as myself now have a huge workload thanks to this stupid change to fix. A lot of players avatars are now messed up, basically, because Howrse admin team implemented a unwanted change.

Honestly, companies only do what they think is best for their company so whatever the reason for the change it's unlikely Howrse did it for absolutely no reason. And as a graphic designer, it's just as easy for me to design something circular as it is to design something square. It's just an adjustment in what stock I look for and where I place elements, but it certainly isn't the end of the world.

I'm not happy with the lack of communication on it being changed, but I don't mind the change itself.

Apparently I need to say it again. Fix the Lag before adding anymore changes to the game. We have been playing with this lag now for months. Many people have sent in complaints and nothing is being done about it, after stating that the team would look into it.

So, for now until the lag is fixed. You will not be hearing one positive comment from me about these changes. It was fine before.

Please actually listen to what we are telling you needs fixing.

Well I wouldn't have even noticed the change, but circles work for me, it's more aesthetically pleasing I think, brings it inline with most other sites profile images too.

Not everyone saves every single image as individual files, and remaking GIF avatars is a pain in the butt. Me and a lot of others hate this change, sure, avatars can be changed. Far easier to just revoke this change however, instead of many of us top artists, such as myself, having to spend weeks remaking thousands of avatars.

No one wanted this. No one *wants* this. As cool as circle avatars are, if you want one, make one or get one commissioned, don't force it on us. I like the squares as you have more space for the image and work. Especially as a graphics artist this just throws all of my hard work into the trash...Not cool Howrse. Not cool. This is extremely disappointing and I very much regret getting back into graphics now...I took a two year hiatus from them, come back 2 weeks ago and now I'm greeted with this. Thanks.
